Stories of Periter
The world of Periter is much like our own, and other than in geography, differs in only one major respect – some of the people living on it have a gene which when expressed, gives them paranormal abilities. Approximately half the races in this world carry this gene, which is switched on during development by a number of environmental factors. The gene also makes the person infertile.
Some races don’t carry the gene. Some carry it but it is much less likely to be expressed. Those with and those without can interbreed freely. However, general infertility among some races is much higher than in others, and this differential can and does lead to tension as more fertile races exceed their living space.
Periter is dominated by large continents, larger oceans and has a very small population. It has no reserves of fossil fuels, but is extremely rich in mineral wealth, and has a large and diverse population of non-human and non-animal organisms.
